The BFI Comedy Genius tour hits Croydon! Screen25 and the David Lean Cinema join forces to host a season of laughs with four dates of stand-up comedy shows, each followed by the performers’ favourite cult classic comedy film.
Presented in partnership with the Croydon Comedy Festival, we have a range of films to suit all humours and tastes, from 90s sketch classics to charmingly inventive British comedy, the films have all been expertly curated by each comedian to follow on from their set.
Join the Stand-up Film Club and help support local independent cinema and homegrown talent in this season of comedy at its all time best.
Our final event in the season is hosted by BAFTA-nominated Kevin Day with a stand-up set before his chosen cult classic screwball comedy Sullivan’s Travels.
A 1940's classic, on the big screen! John Sullivan (Played by Joel McCrea) travels around the US in disguise as a tramp to research his upcoming film about the common man, entitled 'O Brother Where Art Thou?'.
With poignant satire and themes of self-reflection and introspect, this is one of Preston Sturges’ landmark pieces of cinema.
