Avant-garde Russian filmmaker, Kirill Serebrennikov – currently under house arrest – mines his own past in this beautiful narrative of change and loss.
Set in in Leningrad in the early 1980s, the film depicts a fiercely committed scene who worship secretly at the altar of rock and roll in the lead-up to the fall of the Berlin Wall.
Mike – a waifish singer with a wildly popular band - lives in a cramped apartment with his beautiful girlfriend Natasha and a new baby. When musical protegee Viktor enters their lives and catches Natasha’s attention, it spawns a love triangle and promises to change the trajectory of rock n’ roll music in the Soviet Union.
