A rip-roaring real-life story following the exploits of ice-skating champ Tonya Harding as she finds fame at the U.S. Figure Skating Championships.
Featuring a silky smooth break out performance from Margot Robbie, this Oscar-winning film is a refreshingly rebellious – and unexpectedly inspiring – biopic of one of America’s most beloved yet controversial young starlets.
Raised on the proverbial wrong side of the tracks in Portland, Oregon, Tonya somehow claws her way up to reach the top of her profession. Despite reaching the dizzy heights of national ice-skating champion, weighed down by a neglectful mum (Alison Janney) and her abusive husband, Tonya's hard work is undone after getting embroiled in a tabloid-friendly story of human vulnerability.
Penned by Steven Rogers, screenwriter of Romantic Comedy Hope Floats and P.S. I Love You, I, Tonya is a surprisingly dark yet humane comedy that will leave your head in a spin and your feet in a whirl.
Feature preceded by Epilogue, a short film directed by Layke Anderson portraying a woman following a single act of violence. Filmed in a single continuous take, and partly inspired by Roald Dahl's short story Lamb to the Slaughter, the film touches on the theme of reactive abuse, exploring the basic primal instinct of survival while blurring lines between a victim and her abuser.
