The BFI Comedy Genius tour hits Croydon! Screen25 and the David Lean Cinema join forces to host a season of laughs with four dates of stand-up comedy shows, each followed by the performers’ favourite cult classic comedy film. The David Lean will be screening Amelie on Wednesday 12th December as part of the season.
Presented in partnership with the Croydon Comedy Festival, we have a range of films to suit all humours and tastes, from 90s sketch classics to charmingly inventive British comedy, the films have all been expertly curated by each comedian to follow on from their set.
Join the Stand-up Film Club and help support local independent cinema and homegrown talent in this season of comedy at its all time best.
First up award-winning comedian and Radio 1 host Ed Night performs his stand-up set fresh off the Edinburgh Fringe circuit, before presenting his favourite nostalgia inducing classic; Good Burger.
Welcome to Good Burger! Home of the good burger, can we take your order? Join us for the ultimate 90s throwback with comedy duo Kenan & Kel as they embark on a pun filled and absurdist summer working at an independent burger joint. Including an alarmingly 90s cast featuring Carmen Electra and Shaquille O’Neal, this Nickelodeon classic will undoubtedly have you craving a burger & fries with a shake to boot.
This screening is part of Comedy Genius, a nationwide celebration of comedy on screen led by BFI, the Independent Cinema Office and BFI Film Audience network, supported by funds from the National Lottery.
