Screen25 are proud to present Lift Off! 🚀 a season of lunar-themed cinema events commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 Moon landing.
On the eve of the anniversary we’re excited to revisit the moving film First Man, a look at the life of astronaut Neil Armstrong, and the legendary space mission that led him to become the first man to walk on the Moon on July 20, 1969.
With celebrated stellar performances from Ryan Gosling as Armstrong and Claire Foy as his first wife Janet Shearon Armstrong, this is an electrifying and humanising look at the iconic figures who completed one of the greatest feats of humankind.
We're pleased to be welcoming Peter Bull MBE, who will be introducing the film with a talk on the first Moon landing in 1969.
Peter Bull MBE
Peter has been in Astronomy Education for over thirty years having been born three months before the foundation of the space Programme Sputnik in 1957. He lectures on Cosmology to all ages from 7 to undergraduates and beyond and grinds mirrors for reflecting telescopes.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Astronomical Society and a trained teacher. His ideas introduce relating to how we are discovering more and more about the cosmos, the possibility of extraterrestrial life and the issues relating to long term space flight. He will also consider how consciousness can affect the physical universe through the relationship between the very small and the very large.
