With dreams of becoming a musician, Miguel strives to overcome his families age-old ban on music. After mysteriously finding himself in the Land of the Dead, Miguel joins forces with Hector (Gael Garcia Bernal) and together they journey to find out the true story of Miguel’s family and their aversion to music.
Screen25 have teamed up with the Cabinet of Living Cinema to provide a very special workshop celebrating November's Day of the Dead: the "Coco Live Score Workshop" in which kids create the sound effects or "foley" for scenes from the award-winning animation using percussion and instruments brought from home, hand-made or provided by Screen25.
At the start of the workshop, kids experiment with sound effects used by the Cabinet of Living Cinema (the workshop is led by their director - Kieron Maguire), to explore how foley can be created live on stage. Then the kids work on how to create effects for certain scenes from the film such as the talent contest in the visually-stunning Land of the Ancestors. When ready we run the film! We pause at the scenes, get the kids ready then run the scenes with live sound effects, including a Mexican Wave!
The workshop is included with each ticket and will run from 2pm to 3pm, children are free to join in as they arrive.
For a small charge children also have the chance to get into character by local face painter Jacqueline Rice who will be on hand from 2pm for Día de los Muertos (Day of the Dead!) themed face painting!
Remember to dress up! Best dressed child wins a prize.
