Dir. Greta Gerwig • 2017 • United States • Comedy-Drama • 93 mins • Cert 15
We’re launching our autumn programme with a double screening of Greta Gerwig’s Lady Bird, in celebration of women and motherhood.
This coming-of-age comedy drama follows 18 year old Lady Bird as she navigates through friendship, young love and her last year of Catholic school.
A semi-autobiographical take on Gerwig’s own upbringing and relationship with her mother, this early 2000s nostalgia trip explores what it means to be a young woman nearing the end of adolescence.
Starring Saoirse Ronan in the title role, Lady Bird is the ultimate throwback to youth, it’s difficulties and its carefree moments. Between the instantly relatable story and idyllic cinematography, this multi-award winning film is one of the best break out directorial debuts to date.
In celebration of mums everywhere, Screen25 invites you to send in a photo of you and your mum to firstname.lastname@example.org, the best 10 win a free ticket for their mum to join at either screening!
