Bar Manager


Part-time (approximately 12-16 hours per month)

We are looking for an organised and responsible volunteer to manage our bar/kiosk and keep it well stocked and profitable.

Since we moved to our new venue we have been able to sell our own refreshments, including hot and cold drinks, snacks, and alcoholic beverages where licensing permits. This has become an essential revenue stream, which allows us to keep our ticket prices down. We currently rely on Temporary Events Notices to run a bar 1-2 times per month, however, we are in the process of applying for a premises license to remove this restriction.

The successful candidate will be required to work in their own time (averaging 3-4 hours per week), and be available to attend Screen25 screenings every few weeks to stock-check and carry out necessary tasks.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Ordering, including shopping trips to wholesaler, and liaising with suppliers;

  • Managing POS back office: updating inventory, adding/removing products;

  • Stock-taking during events;

  • Planning bar menus for special or seasonal events, e.g. themed cocktails;

  • Costings for special events;

  • Booking TENs and supporting on licensing applications where necessary.

Person specification (essential):

  • Excellent organisation;

  • Good attention to detail and ability to work to a professional standard;

  • The ability to work on your own initiative;

  • Good business sense;

  • Basic accounting skills;

  • Knowledge of Excel or similar worksheet software;

  • Qualified driver, with access to a vehicle for transporting stock;

  • Be available on occasional Wednesday evenings and weekends.

Person specification (desired):

  • Personal License holder;

  • Experience of bar or cafe management;

  • Knowledge of drinks market;

  • Creative flair.
